A National Bond and Trust representative will be on campus from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in Cleveland Hall 205 to discuss the U.S. Savings Bond program available through payroll deduction. A 10-minute presentation will be given at the top of each hour, followed by an open enrollment session; no registration is necessary. The annual Celebration of Life, a memorial service to honor members of the Buffalo State community who have passed away in the last year, will be held during Bengal Pause in the Burchfield-Penney on Tuesday, April 4. Please forward names of students, staff, and faculty who have died this year and kindly give us family contact information if possible so that we can invite loved ones to the ceremony. Faculty and staff are asked to remind their students that applications for 2006–2007 Alumni Association Scholarships are due today! Scholarships range from $250 to $1,000. This year marks the second year in which Project FLIGHT at Buffalo State College leads this important program designed to reach out to the young minds of Buffalo through books. The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literacy Initiative is a program under the auspices of the governor that collects age-appropriate new books for children in grades K–12. To date, more than 12,000 books have been donated to needy children. This year's recipient, selected by Superintendent Williams, is Highgate Heights Elementary School 80.
The Engel Student Humanitarian Award recognizes a Buffalo State undergraduate student who has demonstrated personal character through altruism, volunteer service, and the giving of oneself to the campus and the larger community. The recipient will receive a monetary award.

Exercise your school spirit and gear up for the Buffalo State College Alumni Association’s ninth annual Bengal 5K Run and Fun Walk on Saturday, March 25, at 9:30 a.m. on the Buffalo State College campus. Proceeds from this event benefit the Alumni Association’s Legacy Scholarship Fund.
