Friday's First-Year Convocation Begins Academic Year for Freshmen

On Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Rockwell Hall's Performing Arts Center, Buffalo State will welcome the class of 2009. Please join us as we introduce new students to our schools and academic life and present the Oath of Matriculation. If you would like to march in the academic procession, call 878-5906 or e-mail University College. If you're marching, you need to arrive at Rockwell's third floor hallway at 3:00 p.m. A picnic will follow the convocation in Rockwell Quad.

ROCKY HORROR COMES TO BUFFALO STATE!

The rock 'n roll musical that started the cult known as The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be part of the Casting Hall/Theatre Department's main stage season this Fall. Auditions are happening the first week of classes (Tuesday 8/30 & Wednesday 8/31) and are open to  all Buffalo State students. Please tell your interested (and slightly nutty!) students to sign up on the Casting Hall board in the Theatre Arts Building. Who knows when they'll be able to "Time Warp" again?! First-Year Convocation Starts the Year for New Freshmen

The First-Year Convocation, welcoming the class of 2009 to Buffalo State, will be held Friday, August 26, at 3:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall. Faculty and staff are invited to march in academic regalia or sit with other honored guests. Academic Affairs and Student Affairs are co-sponsoring the event, which will be followed by a picnic in Rockwell Quad. Please RSVP to University College (call 878-5906 or send e-mail), so we can arrange seating. Marchers should assemble on the third floor of Rockwell at 3 p.m.

Today is the deadline date for submitting nominations for the Buffalo State College Alumni Association's 2005 Young Alumnus Achievement Award, which will be presented at a special awards reception on October 21, 2005, during Homecoming Weekend. The award recognizes alumni of the last 20 years who have (1) achieved significant professional advancement; (2) provided outstanding service to the community; and (3) demonstrated loyalty and commitment to Buffalo State College. Weight Management Study 2005: Update

The Research Foundation of Buffalo State and the Dietetics and Nutrition Department are sponsoring an ongoing research project for overweight women ages 20-59 on how many calories your body burns just resting and how many calories are burned during activity. Recruitment will continue into the fall semester. Call x-5715 or e-mail colaiztm@buffalostate.edu and provide your name and phone number. Individuals who are smokers, who have had recent weight loss or illness, or who have conditions that alter the way the body burns calories are not eligible.

The Fitness Center would like to offer the campus community the opportunity to buddy up and save. Bring a partner to the gym and you will both recieve $10 off! That's right! $10! You and your buddy can work out together and keep each other on track and now you can do it for just $125 a year. This offer applies to one year memberships and must be paid by check. If your membership has not expired, that's okay. Just add on the new membership to the end of your current membership.
