The Buffalo State College Fitness Center would like to offer the campus community the opportunity to buddy up and save. Bring a partner to the gym and you will both receive $10 off your year-long membership! You can work out together, keep each other on track, and now you can do it for just $125 a year. This offer applies to one-year memberships and must be paid by check. If your membership has not expired, that's okay. Just add on the new membership to the end of your current membership. While you're here, check out the new lockers we have installed right inside the Fitness Center!

Summer Session C, II Grading Window

Grading window for Session C and II opens at 1:00 a.m., Thursday, August 11, and closes at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16. Use SABRE Faculty Self Service; check the SABRE Faculty/Staff Website under "SABRE Final Grading Instructions" at: www.buffalostate.edu/sabre/facstaff. Tip: Before you want to grade, sign on to SABRE to make sure you have access. Then go through Step 5, and all the summer courses you are teaching should appear. If one of your courses does not appear, contact the Registrar's Office at 878-4811. SABRE support is 878-3434.

Degree Navigator updated with Fall 2005 catalog requirements

Fall 2005 catalog requirements have been posted in Degree Navigator and are now live. Undergraduate students who have Fall 2005 as their first active term at Buffalo State will now be applied to the new catalog. Questions, comments or concerns from Departments can be addressed by e-mailing audit@buffalostate.edu. The change from 123 to 120 credits required for all degrees will be made in Degree Navigator before Fall classes begin.

Weight Management Study 2005

The Research Foundation of Buffalo State and the Dietetics and Nutrition Department are sponsoring a research project for overweight women ages 20-59 on how many calories your body burns just resting and how many calories are burned during activity. Call ext. 5715 or e-mail colaiztm@buffalostate.edu and provide your name and phone number. If eligible, you will be given a free calorimetry test (a $90 test) and activity monitoring. Individuals who are smokers, who have had recent weight loss or illness, or who have conditions that alter the way the body burns calories are not eligible.

Greet Our New Freshmen at First-Year Convocation

Please join Academic Affairs and Student Affairs in welcoming the class of 2009 to Buffalo State. First-Year Convocation, at 3:30 p.m Friday, Aug.26, in Rockwell Auditorium, will introduce freshmen to our four new schools, our campus sites, and our academic life.
You can march in the academic procession (order regalia to rent at the bookstore by today, Aug.5), or sit more casually with honored guests. A family picnic afterward in Rockwell Quad will celebrate the start of the school year.

First-Year Convocation Welcomes Freshmen to Academic Year

Academic Affairs and Student Affairs will sponsor a First-Year Convocation to welcome the Buffalo State class of 2009 at 3:30 p.m, Friday, August 26, in Rockwell Hall Auditorium. A family picnic will follow in Rockwell Quad.
The ceremony will include an academic procession of those who would like to march (Rockwell is air conditioned), but faculty and staff can also sit together in front of the auditorium more casually dressed. If you need to rent regalia, call the bookstore by Aug.5. Please RSVP to University College, 878-5906 or email, or respond through your department or unit.

Reminder: Call for Young Alumnus Achievement Award Nominations

The Buffalo State Alumni Association seeks nominations for its 2005 Young Alumnus Achievement Award, to be presented at a special awards reception on October 21, during Homecoming Weekend. This award recognizes alumni of the last 20 years who have (1) achieved significant professional advancement; (2) provided outstanding service to the community; and (3) demonstrated loyalty and commitment to Buffalo State College.
