LEAP Speaker set for September 8, Bengal Pause, Bulger West

Howard Woolridge, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP), is scheduled to speak to interested Buffalo State College students and faculty Thursday, September 8, 2005, during Bengal Pause (12:15–1:30 p.m.) in Bulger Communication Center West. Woolridge is riding his horse across America to call attention to the need to reform our country's current drug policies. LEAP is an organization made up of current and former members of law enforcement whose mission is to educate the public about the consequences of drug-control policies.

Degree Navigator updated to 120 credits for Baccalaureate Degrees

As of Monday, August 29, all baccalaureate degrees on Degree Navigator were changed from the 123 minimum credit hour requirement to the new 120 minimum credit hour requirement. This reflects the policy change approved in the April 14, 2005, Bulletin.

Call for Nominations: 2005 Outstanding SPA Alumnus of the Year Award

The Student Personnel Administration (SPA) Alumni Chapter welcomes your nominations for the 2005 Outstanding SPA Alumnus of the Year Award. This award recognizes an outstanding Buffalo State SPA graduate who has a demonstrated record of achievement in Higher Education or another SPA related field. This award will be presented at the 10th Annual Student Personnel Administration Professional Conference, Saturday, November 19, 2005, at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott.

Ideal candidates for this award will be considered based on the following categories: At least five years of Professional Experience in Higher Education or SPA related field; Professional Accomplishments; Professional Development; Community Service and Service to the SPA Program. The deadline for 2005 nominations is September 16, 2005; however, nominations are accepted year-round and considered for a maximum of three years. Award winners must be able to attend the special awards ceremony on November 19, 2005.

Weight Management Study Update II

The Research Foundation at Buffalo State and the Dietetics and Nutrition Department are sponsoring an ongoing research project for overweight women ages 20-59 on how many calories your body burns just resting and how many calories are burned during activity. Recruitment will continue well into the fall semester. Call x-5715 or e-mail colaiztm@buffalostate.edu and provide your name and phone number so that we may determine which phase of the study you are eligible for. This year's funding allows for all overweight individuals to participate at some level.
