New York State Direct Deposit Program

Posted:

Buffalo State College participates in the New York State Direct Deposit Program. Through this program, employees may choose to have their net salary partially or entirely deposited directly, via electronic funds transfer, with any financial institution that can receive transactions through the automated clearing house system. Completed direct deposit forms (2 MB) should be submitted to the Payroll Office, Cleveland Hall 408.

Any employee who has been inactive on state payroll for more than two pay periods will be deactivated by the Office of the State Comptroller. Employees returning for fall 2022 who previously had direct deposit on file and whose information has not changed can be reactivated by emailing their request to Lynn Paszek, office assistant 2 in the Payroll Office.

Emergency Response Training Fire Drill: August 17

Posted:

University Police will conduct an emergency response training fire drill on campus on Wednesday, August 17, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Conducted in concert with the Buffalo Fire Department, the Buffalo State Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Residence Life, and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, the drill will include a mock fire in Tower 3 using fog machines to simulate smoke. Buildings near Tower 3—Upton Hall, Science and Math Complex, Moore Complex, and the other towers—may be affected. For this training exercise, you may see fire trucks, police action, smoke, and actors portraying victims around Tower 3. Do not be alarmed. This is a simulated event.

The goal of this exercise is to train first responders in the event of a fire, shooting, terrorist attack, or other critical incidents on campus.

If you have questions, please call University Police at (716) 878-6333.

Residential Student Move-In Day: August 24

Posted:

In just a few short days, we will welcome our new first-year and transfer students to campus. Resident students will move in to their home away from home at Buffalo State College on Wednesday, August 24. This is the day we have waited for all summer, and it may come with some disruption to campus traffic flow. Check-in will occur throughout the day, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Sports Arena, after which residents will move into their halls along Rockwell Road, 1-39, and Tower Road. We hope you will excuse the disruption and join us in welcoming our new class to campus for a great fall semester.

International Education Office: SUNY COIL

Posted:

Buffalo State College is a member of the SUNY Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) consortia. COIL is a great way to integrate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our classrooms and to offer our students diverse perspectives and international experiences right from campus. The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.” COIL is also a wonderful foundation for any faculty members who are interested in developing a short-term faculty-led study-abroad experience for students. Our COIL membership provides professional development opportunities for faculty in foundations, elements, and designs for COIL programming. The membership also includes a database of interested faculty members from around the globe and monthly meetings to discuss technology and pedagogy and to connect with like-minded faculty.

If you are interested in learning more about COIL or short-term faculty-led programming, please contact Melissa Holland, director of international engagement, in the International Education Office, South Wing 430.
