New York State Direct Deposit Program

Posted:

Buffalo State College participates in the New York State Direct Deposit Program. Through this program, employees may choose to have their net salary partially or entirely deposited directly, via electronic funds transfer, with any financial institution that can receive transactions through the automated clearinghouse system. Completed direct deposit forms (PDF, 1.9 MB) should be submitted to the Payroll Office, Cleveland Hall 408.

Any employee who has been inactive on state payroll for more than two pay periods will be deactivated by the Office of the State Comptroller. Employees returning for fall 2022 who previously had direct deposit on file and whose information has not changed can be reactivated by emailing their request to Lynn Paszek, office assistant 2 in the Payroll Office.

Opportunities for Buffalo State Faculty

Posted:

The Buffalo State College Teaching and Learning Center is dedicated to helping faculty members discover resources to promote effective student learning. Toward that end, we are offering three programs in 2022–2023 with three different levels of involvement.

These programs are premised on a three-part distinction between (a) reflective practitioners, (b) scholarly teachers, and (c) scholars of teaching and learning (see, for example, Richlin, 2001). Reflective practitioners seek improvement through feedback from peers and students, personal reflection, and dialogue with others about evolving teaching techniques. Scholars of teaching consult the pedagogical literature that considers evidence-based best practices within particular learning contexts and use this literature to inform teaching choices. Scholars of teaching and learning consult the existing literature and then move on to investigate particular teaching techniques and learning strategies, collect evidence, and contribute to the pedagogical literature.

  • Reflective Practitioner Program: full- and part-time faculty members can earn a certificate after completing various activities. Apply for the Reflective Practitioner Program.
  • Scholarly Teaching Program: selected full- and part-time faculty members are eligible to receive a $1,000 stipend during 2022–2023 if they conduct a literature review on a particular learning issue and compile an annotated bibliography to be shared with the Buffalo State community. Apply for the Scholarly Teaching Program.
  • Scholar of Teaching and Learning Program: selected full- and part-time faculty members are eligible to receive a $2,000 stipend in 2022–2023 if they conduct a literature review on a particular learning issue, design a study to investigate the issue, collect evidence, and share the results with the Buffalo State community. Apply for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Program.

If you have questions about any of these programs, please contact the Teaching and Learning Center.
