Reminder: Bring Cell Phone to Class for Multi-factor Authentication

Posted:

Faculty members who will be using classroom workstations this semester should remember to bring their cell phones to class with them to complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) prompts. If you forget to bring your cell phone, or if you currently have only a home or office phone registered with MFA, you will not be able to sign in to most campus resources, including email, OneDrive, D2L Brightspace, and Degree Works.

To update your verification options and add your cell phone, sign in to https://aka.ms/mfasetup with your Buffalo State email address and password. Complete step-by-step instructions are available in the IT Knowledge Base.

If you need assistance with multi-factor authentication, please review the MFA frequently asked questions page. You can also contact the IT Help Desk by email, by phone at (716) 878-HELP, or by stopping by our office in Butler Library (on the ground floor behind the "Ask Us" counter).

Thanks for your patience as these changes are rolled out.

Please be mindful of the importance of communicating your availability on Labor Day, September 5, 2022. This is an official state holiday, and all offices are closed. Please post notices in advance in your offices (if applicable) and on your website, use out-of-office automatic email replies, and change voice mail recordings so that students and other employees are aware that the office is not available. These messages should provide information on whom to contact in case an issue requires immediate attention.

Please contact Carey Seneca, interim manager of human resources, (716) 878-4822, with questions.
