Webinar on Responding to Violence Through Technology

In recent years, college campuses have witnessed an increase in violence through technology, thereby adding an additional area for coordinated community response teams (CCRT) to recognize and respond to with intervention and prevention efforts. Emerging technologies pose a challenge for victim safety, privacy, and confidentiality. The webinar will provide practical information about safety risks and the benefits of several technologies.

Please join the ingenious knights and captivating ladies of Barbara Miller's senior seminar on Cervantes's Don Quixote for a student colloquium. Class members will present and discuss their original analyses of the novel, Tuesday, May 11, at 5:40 p.m. in Bishop Hall 125 (the Modern and Classical Languages Seminar Room). This intimate symposium-style event will include light refreshment during question-and answer-segments. Presentations will be given in the language of Cervantes. All interested members of the campus community are welcome.

Relationship Violence Essentials: What We All Need To Know

Relationship violence is the most common form of violence in women’s lives. It is estimated that 21 percent of college students report violence in a current relationship and 32 percent experienced violence in a previous relationship. These workshops will provide information giving counselors, health care workers, police officers, residence life staff, judicial board members, and others a better understanding of relationship violence, how it affects our students, and effective ways to help students in abusive relationships to evaluate their risk and develop strategies to protect themselves from the violence.

Immediate feedback enhances students’ opportunities to learn and can help avoid the formation of misconceptions about the content. Engage in an immediate feedback technique featuring IF-AT forms. Discuss multiple classroom uses for this technique. Receive practical hints for using the forms effectively during instruction. Use the accompanying software to create sample questions. You are welcome to bring your own laptop if you would like to download the software and save your sample files. All interested participants will receive IF-AT forms for use in an upcoming class.
