Homage to a Combatant Poet: Aim? C?saire Workshop with Musa Abdul Hakim

Posted:

This poetry workshop pays homage to Aimé Césaire (1913-2008), one of the most brilliant of the modern visionary poets; author, statesman, and a founder of the Négritude literary movement. Through a reading and commentary of representative poetry and prose from this anti-colonialist combatant’s celebrated oeuvre, the intent is to convey a sense of this Afro-Martinican intellect’s triumphant artistic genius, in an attempt to pinpoint his remarkable quest for a rendezvous with history, culture, and universal humanism.
