Polish American History Lecture

There will be a PowerPoint presentation by Professor Teresa Kaczorowska, Ph.D., titled, "Mieczyslaw Haiman - Historian of American Polonia," on Saturday, January 31, at 3:00 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 210. Mieczyslaw Haiman was a writer, poet, and editor of Polish newspapers in Buffalo, Boston, and Chicago. He also published books on Polish American history. The archives he gathered became the foundation of the Polish Museum of America in Chicago. Professor Kaczorowska is a poet and the author of a biography on Haiman.

2009-2010 Alumni Association Scholarships Available

Faculty and staff are asked to share the following information with their students: Applications are now available for the 22 scholarship opportunities offered through the Buffalo State Alumni Association. Scholarships range from $150 to $1,000. To apply, students must submit a completed application form, an essay, and two reference forms to the Alumni Affairs Office, Cleveland Hall 305, by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009.

Call for Artwork: Women's History Month Exhibit 2009

The Women's Studies Interdisciplinary Unit is again creating an exhibit to recognize Women's History Month. The exhibit will be on view in E. H. Butler Library's lobby display cases in March. We are looking for creative work from Buffalo State women faculty, staff, students, and alumni. If you have an item you would like to loan for use in the exhibit, please contact either Jennifer Ryan, assistant professor of English and Women's Studies coordinator, at ext. 5415, or Barbara Vaughan, associate librarian, at ext. 6317. The deadline for submission is Wednesday, February 25.

Registering for a Section in Banner Using the Worksheet

Faculty: Please be reminded that if a student is given an override for a section, they must register for the section using the worksheet function. They cannot search for the section and select using the checkbox. A closed section will not appear as available using the search, thus not allowing the student to select it.

VSLC Volunteer Fair: February 11

The Volunteer and Service-Learning Center (VSLC) will host the annual Buffalo State College Volunteer Fair in the Campbell Student Union lobby on Wednesday, February 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from area not-for-profit agencies to discuss available volunteer opportunities. Please encourage students to attend this event; all majors are welcome. Additional information and a list of attending agencies is available on our Web site. "Volunteer: It’s Good for the Heart!" is funded by the Faculty Student Association.
