Trick or Treat for Change: October 28

The Volunteer and Service-Learning Center (VSLC) is pleased to announce a new volunteer event for students this semester. Trick or Treat for Change: A Community Engagement Opportunity to Address Poverty and Homelessness will be held on Wednesday, October 28, and will provide students an opportunity to learn about issues of homelessness and poverty in our community. Students will dress in Halloween costumes and collect pocket change throughout the neighborhood to benefit six community organizations that address these issues throughout Western New York.

One swipe for purchases at on-campus dining venues, vending machines, and at the Barnes & Noble bookstore. No more searching for change or having your dollar bills rejected in the vending machines. You can also use Bengal Bucks for printing and copying at the library. Add funds when needed, and don't worry about carrying around cash or credit cards.

Wireless Access for Campus Guests

Access to the campus wireless network can be made available for individuals involved in college sponsored events, such as guest speakers, conferences, and meetings. Please contact Mary Jo Graham in Computing & Technology Services (878-4611 or grahammj@buffalostate.edu) well in advance of the event to make arrangements. When requesting this service, please have available the date(s), time, location (including device names if campus equipment is being used), and the number of people involved. If your event is being arranged through Events Management, please let them know that wireless access is required during your event and they will assist with notifying Computing & Technology Services.

Reading: Eric Gansworth: From the Western Door to the Lower West Side followed the new film Picture Man: The Poetry of Photographer Milton Rogovin and cake in celebration of Milton's birthday.

Women in Science and Mathematics

The Women in Science and Mathematics Committee is pleased to present Debbie Yen Dao, today, Thursday, October 22, during Bengal Pause in Classroom Building C-122. Her talk is titled "Paradigm Shifts: My Journey To and Through M.D. / Ph.D. Training." A member of the American Physician Scientists Association, Ms. Dao has completed the first two years of medical education and is in the fourth year of ongoing research. Upon completion of her thesis, she will transition to the third and fourth year medical clinical phases of training.
