Deadline Extended: Student Leadership and Humanitarian Awards

The application deadline for the 2010 Student Leadership and Humanitarian Awards: Mildred Keller Campbell Leadership Award; Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges; Phillip Santa Maria Award for Student Leadership in Equity and Campus Diversity; Luis M. Antonetti Student Humanitarian Award; Minnie and Joe Engel Student Humanitarian Award and the Phillip Santa Maria Memorial Award has been extended to Wednesday, November 25. Award criteria, deadlines and application forms are available online at www.buffalostate.edu/studentlife or at all student service offices. Individuals who already submitted materials are free to supplement or update their applications through November 25. Questions can be addressed to Charles B. Kenyon, associate vice president and dean of students, at 878-4618.

E. H. Butler Library Features Research How-To and Study Skills Guides

E. H. Butler Library has added two useful sources to its library databases list: "Research How-To Guides" and "Study Skills Guides." Produced by the Emerald Fulltext database, these sources feature a variety of essays on subjects of interest to students and faculty. Topics covered in "Research How-To Guides" include “How to Conduct Empirical Research,” “How to Give a Research Presentation,” “How To Carry Out a Literature Review,” and “How to Conduct Interviews.” Topics such as “Making Effective Presentations,” “Developing Critical Thinking,” and “Working in a Group” appear in "Study Skills Guides."

Reimbursement Policy

When submitting reimbursement requests to the Accounts Payable Office for travel or out-of-pocket expenses, please be sure to tape the small receipts on an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper. This policy is necessary due to scanning purposes and enables our staff to process your reimbursement promptly. Non compliance will result in reimbursement delays.

Ron Brown - ITEC Scholarship

The staff at the Information Technology Exchange Center (ITEC) has established a scholarship and would appreciate your assistance in getting the word out to students. The award will be given in December to a student who is enrolled in the fall 2009 semester that shows promise in the study of computing and/or technology. The scholarship is not restricted to CIS majors; past recipients have been students majoring in Technology Education, Exceptional Education, and Exceptional Education/Childhood Education, Computer Information Systems/Business Administration, and Fashion and Textile Technology.
