A talk and book signing by Nicholas P. Cushner on "The Royal Spanish Inquisition: Torture, Sex, and What it Teaches Us in 2009" will be held on Tuesday, November 17, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 208. What do we know of the Spanish Inquisition (1478-1808)? Torture, intolerance, secrecy—anything else? Learn how and why the Spanish Inquisition came into existence, and how and why the Inquisition lasted for as long as it did. Dr. Cushner will read from his new book, The Magical Conquistador and Other Stories about the Royal Spanish Inquisition.

<em>Anything Goes</em>: ASL Signed Performance on Friday

The Friday, November 13, presentation of Anything Goes will be an American Sign Language (ASL) signed performance. Sign language interpreters will be located at the right side of the house, near the stage. The performance takes place at 8:00 p.m. in Warren Enters Theatre. Buffalo State students can purchase tickets at the Rockwell Hall Box Office or Student Union Box Office for an additional discount. General cost: $15; Student cost: $10.

Philosophy Class to Compete in Northeast Regional Ethics Bowl

Five students from Dr. Julian Cole's "Ethics Bowl" class will compete in the Northeast Regional Ethics Bowl on Saturday, November 14, at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Ten regional ethics bowls will take place at various locations throughout the United States. The top scoring 32 teams in the regionals will qualify to compete in a national ethics bowl at the 2010 Association of Practical and Professional Ethics Annual Meeting March 4, 2010, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Good luck, Buffalo State team!

5th Annual Armed Services Reunion

Join Buffalo State graduates, students, emeriti, faculty and staff who have served or are serving in any branch of the United States or Allied military services at a special Armed Services Reunion on Saturday, November 14. This event is taking place at 12:00 p.m. at the American Legion Niagara Frontier Post No. 1041, located at 533 Amherst Street, in Buffalo.

The program includes lunch, a performance by the Silas L. Boyd Memorial A Cappella Alumni Choir, an update on services for veterans at Buffalo State today, and a remembrance ceremony for our heroes who have passed away. Whether or not you are able to attend the reunion, you are welcome to submit names of classmates and loved ones to be read during the ceremony. Reservations at $20 each include lunch, a memento, and a $5.00 donation to the Military Service Scholarship Award. Students are welcome to attend at $15 each.
