The Intercollegiate Athletics Department is pleased to announce that its new virtual tour is now available on the department's Web site. The 5-minute video, a cooperative effort between Athletics and Instructional Resources, offers prospective students, parents, alumni, and friends a fast-paced look into the department's athletics programs, facilities, academic achievements, and life-skills programs.

Recent Excavations at the Blackmar-Eaton Site

Come to the Buffalo Museum of Science tonight for the Houghton Chapter lecture series at 7:00 p.m. Ryan Austin, project director for archaeological survey, University at Buffalo, will be talking about "Recent Excavations at the Blackmar-Eaton Site: A Nineteenth-Century Rural Residence in the Town of Concord, Erie County, New York." The Houghton Chapter is part of the New York State Archaeological Association whose purpose is to promote archaeological and historical study and research covering the artifacts, rites, customs, beliefs, and cultures of the aboriginal occupants of New York State up to and including their contact with the Europeans. All Houghton Chapter meetings are free and open to the public. Lectures are held at the Buffalo Museum of Science at 7:00 p.m. Please join us!

Critical Thinking Across the Curriculum Workshop

Jerry Nosich (Pilosophy) will lead his much-acclaimed workshop on teaching critical thinking to undergraduates. This will be of interest to anyone teaching at Buffalo State, and vital for those who teach Foundations of Inquiry (BSC 101). This two-day workshop takes place on Monday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 20, 9:00–noon in in Ketchum Hall 219 (lunch included both days). To register, please e-mail Jeanne Salisbury .

McNair Information and Recruitment Reception

The McNair Scholars Program will host an information and recruitment session on Thursday, October 30, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Science Building 250. The McNair Scholars program helps prepare first-generation, low-income, and/or underrepresented Buffalo State students for graduate study. Students who participate in this program are provided with research opportunities and faculty mentors. Please inform any student you feel qualifies for this program. Flu Shot Clinic Tomorrow

Flu shots will be given in the Campbell Student Union lobby tomorrow, Tuesday, October 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary. There will be no cost to employees covered by Community Blue, Independent Health, Univera, Blue Choice, Preferred Care, and Medicare Part B, provided they show their health plan ID cards. Employees without proper insurance coverage will be charged $30 for the flu shot.

Defensive Driving Class Being Offered this Summer

The Buffalo State Alumni Association has teamed up with Liberty Mutual to offer a defensive driving class to Buffalo State faculty, staff, alumni and students on Saturday, August 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in Ketchum Hall 219. Save money on your auto insurance by taking this class offered through Liberty Mutual Insurance Group. Friends and relatives are also welcome if accompanied by a faculty, staff, alumnus/na, or student. The cost of the class is $22 per person.
