Student Research Programs: Important Deadlines

The deadlines for two programs that support student research are approaching. Only applications completed by the deadlines can be considered. The 10th annual Student Research and Creativity Celebration (SRCC) is open to both undergraduates and graduate students. Access to the online application will remain open for students until midnight, Sunday, March 16; faculty mentors have until midnight, Tuesday, March 18, to review, edit, and approve application(s) submitted by their student(s). SRCC applications are completed online.

Submit Student Awards for Commencement Program

Departments and programs are invited to submit their student awards for print in the commencement program booklet. Notification was sent to all academic departments and programs in January. This serves as a reminder—the deadline for submission is Thursday, February 28. Names and awards will remain confidential until commencement day so that departments can announce their awards as they choose. Please visit the Commencement Web site for guidelines on submitting both undergraduate and graduate awards. Thank you.

Free CPR/AED Classes

Free CPR/AED classes are available to students, faculty, and staff through the Weigel Health Center. During a two-hour class you will learn how to perform CPR for adults, children, and infants, how to use an AED, and how to relieve a choking victim.

Registration Fees

Registration fees for conferences, meetings, etc. should be submitted to the Accounting Office for processing, and no later than three weeks prior to the registration deadline. If there are other travel expenses in addition to the registration fee, send the completed registration form, travel authorization with all approval signatures, account number to be charged, and documentation pertaining to what, if any, meals are included in the registration fee. Be sure to check the registration fee pre-payment box on the travel authorization and provide the Federal ID number of the payee.

Call for Nominations: Outstanding Master's Theses and Projects

The Graduate Advisory Council announces a call for nominations for awards for Outstanding Master's Thesis and Outstanding Master's Project. The purpose of these awards is to recognize outstanding student research and applied scholarship. Up to three thesis awards and three project awards will be made. Applications will be accepted for students who have graduated (or will graduate) in December 2007, May 2008, August 2008, or December 2008. Nominations may be made by students' thesis or project advisers, or students may self-nominate. Additional reviews are required from the department chair and one external evaluator.

Fall Undergraduate Open House

The Admissions Office will host its second Fall Open House for prospective students and their families on Saturday, November 8, from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Sports Arena. Refreshments will be served. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the campus, meet with faculty and student support services, discuss financial aid options, and explore career opportunities.
