The Burchfield Penney Art Center at Buffalo State College is accepting applications for its inaugural docent program. If you are interested in advancing your understanding of art and becoming part of a creative and artistic organization, consider becoming a Burchfield Penney docent. Dr. Katherine Alben, research scientist at the Wadsworth Center, the research arm of the New York State Department of Health, and assistant professor of Environmental Health Sciences at SUNY Albany will speak on Tuesday, April 15, during Bengal Pause (12:15–1:30 p.m.) in Science Building 272. Alben's talk is titled "Use of Algal Biomarkers to Assess Diet, Nutrition, and Health of Organisms from Lake Erie and Lake Ontario." A reception will follow.

Undergraduate Research Small Grants Program: Application Deadline February 25

This program provides up to $400 to assist students in carrying out their research and creative activities during the academic year. The award is designed to help defray the cost of travel, supplies, and other materials necessary to conduct the project. It is not intended as salary for the student. Applications are completed online and require both student and mentor input. The spring deadline for the Small Grants program is Monday, February 25.

Basketball Holds Coaches Vs. Cancer Event Tonight

Join the men's basketball team tonight for its annual Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser. The event is in conjunction with the Bengals' important conference game against Fredonia and is part of a men's and women's doubleheader. The women tip off at 6:00 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8:00 p.m. Since 1993, more than 500 coaches have raised nearly $40 million through the Coaches vs. Cancer program.
