As part of Buffalo State's ongoing Hurricane Katrina relief effort, the college's committee is soliciting from all departments an item or basket that will be raffled off at the upcoming Mardi Gras Ball on Sunday, February 26, in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. Faith and Science Scholars' Forum

On Monday, February 6, at 7:00 p.m., the Newman Center at Buffalo State College presents the Newman Scholars' Forum, a volunteer partnership with local colleges and universities to engage in a dialogue between faith and culture. The topic of this panel discussion will be “Faith and Science,” featuring panelists Dr. Khalid Bibi, director of the Health and Human Performance Graduate Program, Canisius College, and founding president of the Universal School of Buffalo; Dr. Paul Johnson, professor of religious studies, ethics and science, D'Youville College; and Dr. J. B. Morganti, professor emeritus of psychology, Buffalo State College. The Newman Center is located at 1219 Elmwood Avenue (at the corner of Penhurst Place). Once again, we are excited to bring the third in the Scholars' Forum series to the campus community and to the community at large. All sessions are free of charge.

The Counseling Center is conducting a national search to fill two vacant senior counselor positions. The campus community is invited to meet visiting candidates during their case presentations. On February 2, Vivian Logan will be in E. H. Butler Library 210 at 2:30 p.m. On February 3, Wendell Rivera will be at Campus House at 11:30 a.m. Additional candidates will be on campus in the month of February; times and dates will be announced in the Daily.

The vice president for student affairs, in conjunction with Student Life, United Students Government, and the Performing Arts Center, is proud to announce that a full-service box office is now open daily in the Student Union. Located next to the Information Desk, the new box office is able to sell all the events that are available at the Rockwell Hall Box Office. Open Monday–Friday, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. All major credit cards are accepted.

HIPERC Presentation: Web 2.0? When Did the Internet Get Upgraded?

The presentation will define "Web 2.0" and demo many examples of Web 2.0 applications. Web 2.0 is what many are saying is the next phase of Web application architecture and Web services. Web 2.0 integrates new Web technologies such as RSS and Ajax with the social aspects of the Web. Web 2.0 tries to improve the overall user experience of the Web. It takes the static HTML-based Web and adds dynamic and social aspects. The presentation is today, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in Science Building 220.
