There will be a Leadership Fair today, January 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Student Union lower lobby that provides faculty, staff, and students with information regarding leadership opportunities at Buffalo State. Learn about SkillSoft, an online resource for leadership skill development; elected positions within student government; plans for a leadership minor; and more. There will be refreshments, games, prizes, and giveaways, so come over to the Union and join the fun. Funded by the Auxiliary Services Grant Allocation Committee and the FSA Grant Committee. Coordinated by the Student Life Office and the Strategic Planning Office.

The Ultimate College Experience with Paul Vitale

Paul Vitale is the founder of Vital Communications, the author of  Are You Puzzled By the Puzzle of Life? and an internationally recognized speaker on the importance of having a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and being successful in the classroom. Faculty, staff, and students are invited to the presentation on Wednesday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Union Assembly Hall. Be among the first 50 individuals to attend this exciting program and receive a gift. This event is funded by the Faculty-Student Association and the Auxiliary Services Grant Allocation Committee and is sponsored by the Student Life Office and the Strategic Planning Office.

Do You Know What to Do in Case of a Heart Attack or Stroke?

Weigel Health Center, a training center for the American Heart Association, provides valuable training to prepare you for such medical emergencies. The Weigel Health Center offers CPR classes free of charge to all Buffalo State staff, faculty, and students. Classes include instruction in CPR for adults, children, and infants and in the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for adults and children. Skills are also provided for relief of choking in adults, children, and infants. Through this class you will develop skills to save a life in an emergency.

2006-2007 Alumni Association Scholarships Available!

Applications are now available for the 17 scholarship opportunities offered through the Buffalo State Alumni Association. Scholarships range from $250 to $1,000. To apply, students must submit a completed application form, an essay, and two reference forms to the Alumni Affairs Office, Cleveland Hall 305, by 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 10.

The Buffalo State College Fitness Center will resume its normal hours of operation on Tuesday, January 17: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m., Friday 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., and weekends 10:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. If you are not a member, don't delay. President's Medal and SUNY Chancellor's Award for Undergraduate Students

Nominations for the President's Medal for Outstanding Undergraduate Student and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence are being sought. Students must be nominated by a faculty or staff member. Candidates must be graduating seniors who have best demonstrated the qualities recognized by each award. Only undergraduates graduating between August 2005 and May 2006 will be considered.

Buffalo State College Foundation Scholarship Gala

The 2006 Buffalo State College Foundation Scholarship Gala, "Night in Nice," will be held on Saturday, April 29, at the Connecticut Street Armory in Buffalo. Faculty and staff can win a free guest ticket to this year's scholarship gala and experience the pearl of the French Riviera. Purchase a ticket or submit a completed payroll deduction form by February 10, and you will be entered to win a free guest ticket to this year's gala. Individual tickets are $175 each. All proceeds benefit the Buffalo State College Scholarship Fund and the All College Honors Program.
