Manners Matter: A Professional Etiquette & Networking Workshop

Students learn skills necessary for career success! On Nov. 5, 4-7:30 p.m., a "mocktail" party with appetizers will teach students how to mingle with employers and make positive first impressions. A 5-course gourmet dinner will follow. Instruction provided by etiquette speakers and a certified protocol expert. Community/campus leaders will offer feedback. TICKETS ARE GOING FAST! Fall Open House Reminder

The Buffalo State College fall open house for prospective freshmen and transfers is on Saturday, 30 October from 9:00 a.m. until noon. This is one of our opportunities to showcase academic and extracurricular offerings and facilities, and highlight benefits of the Buffalo State experience. Because of construction in the Performing Arts Center, faculty, staff and students will be stationed on the floor of the Sports Arena. Academic departments are strongly encouraged to open labs, studios, etc. to ensure that guests see why Buffalo State should be their first choice for undergraduate study.

Jazz Ensemble Oregon Performs at Bengal Pause

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to a free "informance" by the chamber jazz ensemble "Oregon," today, October 14, during Bengal Pause. Performance to be held in the Theatre Arts Building. The four members of the group combine an eclectic variety of sounds from around the globe with jazz and classical music. Experience their original compositions and learn more about the group, their unique sounds, recent collaborations with orchestras and more! Discount student tickets ($12) will be available for Friday night performance with the BPO.

Society of Indian Philosophy and Religion Conference at Buffalo State College

The Society of Indian Philosophy and Religion will hold its annual conference at Buffalo State College on Thursday, October 28th and Friday, October 29th. The theme of this year's conference is “Globalization, Identity, and Syncretism.” The conference will be held Thursday in Butler Library 210 and on Friday in Cleveland Hall 418. Faulkner Scholar to Speak

Buffalo State professor and English Department Chair Kevin Railey will present an Oct. 19 Bengal Pause lecture, "Stretching Our Hearts and Minds: William Faulkner Probes an American Legacy," as part of the 2004-2005 Academic Theme topic for October, "Creative Expression: Medium and Message." His talk, at 12:15 p.m. in the Flexible Theater of the Theater Arts Building, is open to faculty, staff and students.
