Academic Calendar Updated

Posted:

The Academic Calendar Committee is happy to announce confirmed dates for the 2018–2019 academic year. Those dates have been appended to the 2017–2018 academic calendar and can be found on the Academic Calendar website.

In early August, the committee will provide a new platform for sharing and displaying the academic calendar to campus. The new platform will allow users to see the dates as a list or as a calendar and to import the dates to their Outlook calendars. Additionally, the academic calendar will display dates for the next five years.

Summer Construction Impacts

Posted:

Several campus construction projects will be under way during summer 2018, some of which will temporarily affect parking and wayfinding.

As part of the ongoing renovation of Bishop Hall, the sidewalk north of the building will be closed from May 14 through mid-August for a water main line replacement project. Additionally, water service to Campbell Student Union, Cassety Hall, Chase Hall, and Classroom Building will be interrupted Monday, June 4, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Additional water interruptions will be necessary with dates to be determined as the project progresses. Bishop Hall is being converted to a 207-bed corridor-style residence hall for students in the honors program.

A steam line replacement project south of Ketchum Hall will temporarily eliminate 10 non-faculty-staff parking spaces at the west end of Lot R-2 from May 20 through August 15. This project will also affect Lot R-4, eliminating seven spaces in the metered lot from June 18 through July 6.

Parking on the north side of Rockwell Road (Lot R-1) adjacent to Neumann Hall will be interrupted the week of Monday, May 21, as furniture is removed from the building to prepare for an asbestos-abatement project. Trailers will be parked on the sidewalk at the building’s main entrance, and dumpsters will displace three parking spaces on the north side of Rockwell Road for the duration of the project, which is expected to run through August 21.

Restrooms on the west end of Bacon Hall will be renovated this summer. Related work will eliminate three parking spaces in Lot I-32 beginning May 21.

For more information about these and other project profiles, please visit Buffalo State’s Facilities Construction and Maintenance website. Your patience is appreciated as these important summer projects are completed.

Grading Reminder: Last Date of Attendance

Posted:

When issuing a student a non-passing grade (E, F, U, I, or N), please also report the student's last date of attendance when entering the grade online. This assists the Financial Aid Office in determining whether a student unofficially withdrew and whether the student is able to retain the aid he or she received.

The last date of attendance is the last date the student sat in class, took an exam, handed in homework, or actively participated in an online course. If assigning an I or N grade, the last date of attendance is the last date you met with the student to discuss progress in the course. If you have no record of a student's attending, do not enter a date. Instead, use the grade EV, which indicates that the student never attended the course.

Questions regarding this policy or procedure should be referred to the Financial Aid Office, 878-4902. The grading guide (PDF, 162 KB) may also assist you.
