Open Forum: Vice President for Institutional Advancement - May 25

From the Chair of the Search Committee for the Vice President for Institutional Advancement
The search committee for the college's next vice president for institutional advancement reminds the campus community of the open forum with the second candidate for the position on Friday, May 25, from 12:15 to 1:05 p.m. in Newman Lecture Hall (Bulger Communication Center North). The candidate's name and vita will be published in the Daily Bulletin on Wednesday, May 23. At the open forum, the candidate will offer a short opening statement and then take questions from the audience. An online survey will be made available to solicit feedback following the presentation. Please mark your calendars; we look forward to campus participation in the search process. Please direct questions about the process to me, Wendy Paterson, chair of the search committee.

Potential Mail Delivery Delays

The campus Mail Room is entering a period of personnel turnover. While positions are being filled and staff levels are being brought back to capacity, service levels will be adjusted to meet employee capacity. We expect disruptions to be short-term and minimal. Normal service will be restored once vacant positions are filled.

Should you require more expedient access to a package that has arrived on campus, please call the Mail Room at 878-5515 to arrange a pickup.

Governor Cuomo Directs Flags to Half-Staff

New York State Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has directed that flags be lowered to half-staff today, May 15, in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day, a U.S. observance that pays tribute to local, state, and federal peace officers who have died in the line of duty.

Campbell Student Union Reservations Now Open for Fall 2018

The Campbell Student Union is now accepting reservations for the fall 2018 semester. When making a reservation, please include as much information as possible, including the department or organization hosting the event, the time and duration of the event, the approximate expected attendance, and any furniture or technology needs. Event reservations can be updated at a later date. Reservations with no information may be denied.

Tell Students: Summer Service-Learning Opportunity in Puerto Rico

Governor Cuomo and SUNY have collaborated to provide support for up to 250 students to participate in the New York Stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Initiative, an exciting low-cost service-learning opportunity for SUNY students beginning in June. Students will participate in reconstruction efforts in Puerto Rico following hurricanes Irma and Maria. Details and applications have just been released for two-week opportunities, which run mid-June through late August. Program participants are eligible for 3 credits and a stipend. Room and board as well as round-trip travel costs will be covered from one of the New York City–area airports. Selection and placement of applicants in appropriate programs will be conducted by SUNY’s Office of Global Affairs. Applicants will be chosen based on their availability, special skills, commitment, and motivation demonstrated in their essay. Applications are due by Thursday, May 17. The first round of placements will be announced on May 23. Please encourage students to apply for this important opportunity.
