Bishop Hall and Chase Hall Windows to Be Replaced

Posted:

Windows on Bishop Hall and Chase Hall will be replaced as part of Buffalo State's ongoing efforts to address critical maintenance needs. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 4, on Bishop Hall, where office windows and entrance window walls will be replaced. A future Daily Bulletin message will advise the campus community when work will proceed to Chase Hall.

As part of this project, asbestos-containing caulk will be removed and abated from window openings. Work will be conducted by a contractor and monitored by an independent consultant to ensure that abatement operations are performed in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Windows and caulk will be removed and replaced from the exterior after the window openings have been enclosed in plastic from the interior. Plastic will remain on each window for approximately three days.

Workers will need to enter Bishop Hall interior spaces to make project preparations. We would appreciate the assistance and cooperation of Bishop Hall occupants in providing workers with the necessary access. In addition, we ask building occupants to please move objects away from windows and clear off window sills. Minor disruptions during the project may include noise, vibration, and dust.

Please refer to www.buffalostate.edu/construction for further information about current and upcoming construction on campus. Questions about this project can be directed to vpfm@buffalostate.edu. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated.

Today Is the Final Day to Register for the Chase Corporate Challenge!

Posted:

Buffalo State College will participate in the J. P. Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge on Thursday, June 7, at 6:45 p.m. in Delaware Park. Today is the last day to register. Register online now!

All faculty and staff members are invited to run, walk, or just hang out in the hospitality tent, but everyone must register to participate. This year’s Corporate Challenge proceeds go directly to the Western New York Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Close to 400 area businesses and 11,000-plus Buffalonians participate in this event! It’s about promoting Buffalo State camaraderie, our campus community, and team spirit, and it’s a great way to kick off the Year of the City.

Registered Buffalo State team members receive entrance to the Corporate Challenge, a J. P. Morgan Chase commemorative T-shirt, a virtual goodie bag, a Buffalo State College team T-shirt, and free food and drinks all evening at the hospitality tent.

We are excited that our hospitality tent has received a major size upgrade this year thanks to the President’s Office. We will be in the larger tent area, where we’ll represent Buffalo State alongside other large area businesses.

Our Buffalo State Team Corporate Challenge T-shirt (designed by College Relations) is a finalist in the Corporate Challenge T-shirt competition! Show your support! Go online to vote! The organization whose shirt design garners the most votes wins a $1,000 donation to the charity of its choice. You can submit a new vote every day. Anyone can vote, so spread the word!

For additional information about the team and post-race festivities, please visit the team's Facebook page. This is a great opportunity to meet other Buffalo State faculty and staff members while enjoying one of the largest charitable events in the city of Buffalo. Questions can be directed to team captains Jessica Eagan, ext. 4408, or Mary Finger, ext. 3649.
