Notice of Bug in Survey Analysis Program

Posted:

An error was discovered in the new version of the test scoring and survey analysis program that affected the calculation of statistics for certain survey runs. Please review the output of any surveys (including course evaluations) processed during the spring semester. Surveys for which an optional course identification sheet (containing CRN and instructor name) was submitted may have errors in statistical calculations because the respondents were miscounted in some cases. Reports in which the number of respondents was incorrectly reported would also have incorrect calculations of the mean scores and other statistics. The problem has been identified and corrected.

We apologize for the error. If you have any questions, please contact Judi Basinski, ext. 4611.

Workshop: The Dynamics of Adolescent Relationship Abuse

Posted:

Nearly one in 10 teens in grades 7 to 12, male and female, has been physically abused by a boyfriend or girlfriend, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Abused teens are more likely to drink heavily, use drugs, engage in risky sexual behavior, develop eating disorders, and attempt suicide.

Buffalo State’s Violence Intervention and Victim Advocacy office has partnered with the Erie County Coalition Against Family Violence and the Erie County Health Department to offer a full-day workshop on teen relationship violence. This workshop has been designed by youth from Buffalo State, the University at Buffalo, Niagara University, Gay and Lesbian Youth Services, Leaving Our Legacy, and the Teen Reality Theater. It is intended for professionals who interact with and provide services to adolescents. Participants will learn how to effectively communicate with teens about relationship abuse and how it might affect their sexual and reproductive health.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, June 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The $20 registration fee covers all materials and lunch. You can also register online by June 6. If you would rather pay the registration fee by check, call (716) 877-8822 for additional registration information.

For more information about the workshop, contact Michael Chase, Kristen Luppino-Gholston, or Remla Parthasarathy.
