Opening Reception for Anne Frank Project Exhibitions

Posted:

Our Inhumanity: Works by Harold Cohen, appearing in the Czurles-Nelson Gallery, and Reversing Negativity, an installation designed by Ben Perrone in the Dr. Margaret Eschner Bacon Student Gallery, will open from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. today, September 11, in Upton Hall. Help celebrate the kickoff of the 2012 Anne Frank Project conference and meet the artists!

All members of the campus community are invited to participate in the Reversing Negativity installation. Please stop by the Bacon Gallery to write a note to Anne Frank, fold it into a dove, and become part of this installation. Paper, pens, and instructions on how to fold an origami dove will be provided. Haven't folded before? Help will be available. Or leave your letter in the box and it will be folded for you.

Ben Perrone states: "If the pyramid is a symbol of the past, we can turn it on its point and reverse the negative flow of history. We can build a pyramid of air, not stone, using positive messages that flow up to a higher ideal."

Harold Cohen says: "Both my Jewish tradition and my American Bauhaus design education guide me and strengthen my resolve. There is an advantage to being an old man and living through 87 years of experiences. These events have been engraved in my mind, colored my palette, and encouraged me to seek understanding and direct me to examine our inhumanity."
