Tell Students: Marketing Club to Meet

The Marketing Club at Buffalo State will have its first meeting on Thursday September 13, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Chase Hall 109. Refreshments will be served. The Marketing Club is open to all Buffalo State students and is a collegiate associate of the American Marketing Association. Several officer positions are still available.

Student Union Entrance to Close Temporarily

The Campbell Student Union entrance facing E. H. Butler Library will be closed on Thursday, September 13, and Friday, September 14, to allow for completion of the terrazzo floor. The entrance will reopen by 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 14. You will be able to access Residential Dining, the basement level, and the fourth floor by the wooden ramp to the left of the main entrance. You can access Retail Dining through the door to the right of the entrance. Directional signage will be in place to guide you. Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work.

Through National Student Exchange, students have the opportunity to study for a semester or an academic year at one of 200 participating colleges or universities at affordable tuition rates. SLN Workshop: Applying the Quality Matters Rubric

This training will explore the SLN/Quality Matters initiative and processes, which aim to provide faculty members with a mechanism for continuous improvement in instructional design. It will prepare you to be part of a program that can positively affect the design of your online courses. This workshop will be held on Thursday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. to noon and continuing from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 318.

Participants will receive a Quality Matters certificate of completion at the conclusion of this training. After successfully completing this training, you will be eligible to move into the online Peer Reviewer Certification module offered through Quality Matters. In addition, you will gain ideas to improve your own courses using the SLN and QM tools.

Opening Ceremonies AFP 2012

The campus community is invited to join the opening ceremonies of the Anne Frank Project's fourth annual conference, "AFP 2012:  Embracing Responsibility," on Wednesday September 12, at 9:00 a.m. in Warren Enters Theatre in Upton Hall. Please invite your students, colleagues, friends, and family to hear welcome remarks from Buffalo State president Aaron Podolefsky and AFP director Drew Kahn, followed by featured speaker Carl Wilkens. Wilkens is the only American who chose to stay in Rwanda during the 1994 genocide. He returns to the Anne Frank Project by popular demand to share his emotional, inspiring, and poignant lessons of acceptance, forgiveness, and activism.

Come and help us kick off what is sure to be a special four days at Buffalo State!

Don't Cancel That Class!

The Health Promotion Office of Weigel Health Center invites you to substitute one of our educational workshops when you would otherwise cancel class for an out-of-town trip or conference. Workshops should be scheduled at least two weeks ahead of time.

Our workshops focus on lifestyle issues affecting students. Workshop topics include

Tell Students: Financial Aid Workshop Today - National Student Exchange and Study Abroad

Students can learn how financial aid applies to National Student Exchange and overseas programs, how they may qualify for additional aid, and the timeline for processing aid applications during this workshop today at 12:15 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center South. Students will learn about scholarships that are available and other creative ways that students finance participation in exchange and study-abroad programs. Please encourage them not to miss this workshop!
