Professional Development - StrengthsQuest: Discover Your Strengths

Posted:

“It takes a whole campus of whole persons to develop whole students.” Discover your greatest talents, then develop and apply them in courses, programs, and academic advisement of your students. Help students develop to their fullest potential and succeed in a challenging world. Advise students using strategies for course selection. Students strive best in an environment that focuses on helping them discover, develop, and apply their strengths. This program looks at developing our students with a purpose and maximizing them in their development. All growth begins with self awareness. If you’re interested in discovering your strengths and building them into your daily behaviors, call or e-mail Ottilie Woodruff. The discussion will continue on Wednesday, April 20, from noon to 2:00 p.m. in Cleveland Hall 418, about the journey to self improvement. Space is limited. R.S.V.P. by Friday, April 15. Professional Development - Notes, notes and more notes!

Posted:

Taking notes in class has always been a challenge for students with many high incidence disabilities such as dyslexia, central auditory processing disorder, and for students who have physical impairments that prevent them from using pen and paper in class. This discussion session is intended to receive feedback from professors and instructors on how we can help students be independent note-takers. Is going all electronic a possibility? Can we decrease their dependency on others to take notes for them? How? The LiveScribe Pen which is one way to take notes in class will be demonstrated. Please join us to help our students find ways to be independent in their future endeavors. Presented by Sumana Silverheels. A light lunch will be provided on Tuesday, April 12, 12:15 – 1:30, in the Professional Development Center, BUTL 181B.
