A Call for Nominations

Posted:

The Buffalo State Alumni Association is currently accepting nominations for alumni interested in election to the board of directors and participation on a committee of the board of directors. The board of directors oversees the Alumni Association’s efforts to engage, advance, and support the campus community and its students and alumni through a variety of programs, services and awards, as well as opportunities for volunteerism and leadership.

As members of the Buffalo State community, you can help to ensure active and diverse representation on the board by nominating yourself or a fellow alumnus for consideration. To be eligible for consideration, all nominees must be Buffalo State alumni and submit a complete nominee application. To submit an online nomination, please complete the online form (PDF) and return toalumni@buffalostate.edu

While nominations are accepted year-round, the annual deadline for consideration by the current nominating committee is May 16. Elections are held at the July annual meeting of the board of directors. Committee members are selected throughout the year and as needed by the various committee chairs.

Professional Development - Using Large-Scale Databases for Research and Grant Writing

Posted:

This workshop will familiarize researchers with the possibilities available for using large scale, nationally representative databases available through the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and other agencies for the purpose of furthering their own research agendas and as sources for external funding. Large-scale databases provide a wealth of information on a wide range of topics that may be otherwise difficult for researchers to gather. Also, they typically study multiple groups of individuals across a number of years allowing researchers to conduct both cross-sectional and longitudinal investigations. Presented by Gina Pannozzo and Reva Fish on Friday, April 22, from noon to 2:00 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 316.
