Tower Dorm Road Impact Next Week

Beginning Monday, October 3, Tower Dorm Road between the Science Building and the Towers will be reduced to one lane of traffic as workers access manholes to complete underground utility renovations. This work is expected to last three days. Drivers may wish to avoid this area and are asked to use caution when traveling there. Please e-mail vpfm@buffalostate.edu with questions. Free French Film Festival

The Modern and Classical Languages Department and the French American Cultural Exchange (FACE) are proud to present the Tournées Film Festival as part of Buffalo State’s Year of the Arts celebration. The Tournées Festival was made possible with the support of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Ministry of Culture (CNC).

January Program to Rwanda

Tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the Flexible Theatre in the Donald Savage Theater and Communication Building, students can learn about a January intersession program to Rwanda in which U.S. students and Rwandan students will each present a theater piece specific to their respective cultures and then create a universal piece to be performed there and at Buffalo State in the future.

Center for Intellectual Property: Orientation for New Members - Today

Buffalo State faculty and staff members are encouraged to participate in an online orientation for new members of the Center for Intellectual Property (CIP) today, September 28, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Buffalo State is an institutional member of the CIP, a member-based community dedicated to providing copyright education, research, and resources to higher education institutions. Included in the membership is access to online training, publications, and webinars. Many of the training opportunities are free, including the Community Conversations, a series of live webinars with leading copyright scholars.

To get the most out of Buffalo State’s membership in the CIP and its copyright literacy initiatives, it is important that you create an individual account. Take advantage of the monthly Community Conversations and online tutorials on topics such as plagiarism and academic integrity or the online News & Notes Newsletter. The annual Design Faculty Exhibition is currently on display through September 30 in the Czurles-Nelson Gallery in Upton Hall. The exhibit features works by Buffalo State faculty members in ceramics, fibers, metals/jewelry, wood/furniture, communication design, and design foundations. Professional Development: Navigating the Elluminate Interface

The SUNY Center for Professional Development will provide an overview of the Elluminate web conferencing features in this webinar for beginners on Wednesday, October 12, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The webinar will cover the following participant window frame topics: permissions, emoticons, polling options, status indicators, participant window frame icons, and understanding the halo effect. There will be an opportunity for questions and review of any specific features you would like to learn about. No experience with Elluminate is necessary. The session is designed to be hands-on. You can participate in the webinar from any location that provides Internet access.
