Tell Students: National Student Exchange Information Sessions

Students can learn about the National Student Exchange program and how affordable it is to take courses at another campus within the United States or Canada. The information sessions will be held on Tuesday, November 16, and Thursday, November 18, at 12:15 p.m. in Classroom Building B108. Hope to see your students there!

Buffalo State will move to the newest version of ANGEL on Monday, December 27, and Tuesday, December 28. During this time, ANGEL will be unavailable while we upgrade the system from version 7.3 to 7.4.

Health Insurance Option Transfer Period Ends Friday, December 30

Employees who wish to change their health insurance plan for the coming year have until Friday, December 30. We encourage you to complete and return the Option Transfer Form to Cleveland Hall 410 as soon as possible. The effective date of the new coverage will be January 5, 2012.

The 2012 health insurance rates can be viewed at www.buffalostate.edu/offices/hr/benefits.asp#csea. "Choices," a summary of health insurance plans, is also available online or in Cleveland Hall 410. There are two versions: one for settled groups (www.buffalostate.edu/offices/hr/choices_settled.pdf), another for unsettled groups (www.buffalostate.edu/offices/hr/choices_unsettled.pdf). You may want to review the new rates and the Choices booklet before you decide to change insurance plans or to remain with your current plan for 2012.

No action is required if you wish to keep your current health insurance option.

Last-Minute Holiday Gift Ideas

Bengal Bucks holiday gift cards are available for purchase through December 23 and are available in $5, $10 and $25 increments. They are dollar for dollar and they never expire as long as you are a student or faculty or staff member at Buffalo State. They can be used at any Buffalo State Dining food unit including Resident Dining, the Food Court, all grab-and-go locations, vending machines, the Burchfield Penney gift shop and café, and the Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore.

Gift cards can be purchased at Bengal Hall and Spot Coffee, located in the Campbell Student Union, and in the Bengal Card Office, located in E. H. Butler Library 108.

Open Enrollment for the 2012 Health Insurance Opt-Out Program Ends Friday, December 30

The Opt-Out Program is available to CSEA-represented, PEF-represented, and M/C employees. This program will allow eligible employees who have other employer-sponsored group health insurance to opt out of their NYSHIP coverage in exchange for an incentive payment. The incentive payment is $1,000 for opting out of individual coverage or $3,000 for opting out of family coverage, on an annual basis.

If you are currently enrolled in NYSHIP and wish to participate in the Opt-Out Program for 2012, you must complete and return the NYS Health Insurance Transaction Form and the 2012 Opt-Out Attestation Form to Cleveland Hall 410 by Friday, December 30.

The complete Opt-Out Program description, including eligibility requirements and enrollment forms, is available in Cleveland Hall 410 or on the Human Resource Management website at www.buffalostate.edu/offices/hr/spotlight.asp#opt_out.
