Recycling Printer Cartridges/Toners

In order to help us efficiently recycle, please remove cartridges/toners from their boxes when depositing them in the red electronic media recycling bin. These boxes should be broken down and recycled in a blue paper bin. If the cartridge/toner is leaking, please put it into a plastic bag. Your assistance is appreciated!

Center for China Studies Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Center for China Studies Celebrates its 10-year anniversary on Wednesday, October 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Burchfield Penney Art Center. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join any of the activities planned that day, which begins at 9:00 a.m. with opening remarks followed by conversations with past visiting scholars from China. At 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., campus faculty and students will present on their travel experiences to various Asian locations. Guest speakers will present on the topic of "China’s Sacred Sites" at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on the topic "Centrality in Diaspora: Chinese Philosophy and Chinese Diaspora." The closing event begins at 3:00 p.m. and features a fashion show of traditional Chinese clothing. As well, an exhibit of prints and photographs will be displayed all day. The campus community is invited to attend a workshop entitled "Tips for Academic Excellence as an International Student" that will be held on Tuesday, October 5, in Cleveland Hall 416 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. This workshop will be conducted by Stephen Chris and Jessica Towsky of the Counseling Center and promises to be most rewarding for all students since it has a proven track record.

Refugee Awareness Project: Screening of <em>God Grew Tired of Us </em> October 13

This film tells the story of four “lost boys” of Sudan who embark on a journey to America after years of wandering Sub-Saharan Africa in search of safety. They end up in Syracuse and Pittsburgh, where they chronicle hardship of a different variety, and express their hopes of maintaining their cultural identity. The film will be presented on October 13 at 7:00 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center East by Buffalo State graduate and lost boy of Sudan Peter Anthony.
