Comedian Jordan Carlos

Come out and join Student Life for an evening of laughter with Jordan Carlos, Saturday, February 13, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. Carlos, is a Brooklyn-based stand up comic who was brought up on the mean streets of suburban North Dallas where he was the only black kid in class and at all the Bar Mitzvahs. He's appeared most notably as Stephen Colbert's black friend "Alan" on the Colbert Report, and performed his stand up on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham, Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, and various New York comedy festivals.

Australia and Manchester Information Session

Next Thursday, February 18, at 12:15 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center South 2, students can learn how to spend a semester studying at one of Buffalo State's four partner universities in Australia or our partner university in England. They will find out how courses taken there fulfill requirements here, how financial aid applies, about scholarships that are available, and about other creative ways students fund their overseas experiences.

The Volunteer and Service-Learning Center is introducing an Alternative Spring Break in Buffalo (ASBB), from 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 26, to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 29. Please help us share this information with students. ASBB is a drug and alcohol-free opportunity to volunteer in our local community during spring break, get to know fellow classmates and community members, and to grow in leadership and teamwork skills. Not to mention...It's fun!

The Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) will present the work of two recent CASTL Fellows, Thursday, February 18, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center 104. Lisa Hunter will discuss the impact of learning communities on the intellectual development of first-year students. Jill Norvilitis will discuss the efficacy of the Undergraduate Summer Research Program.
