WORKSHOPS TO SUCCESS—WORD CHOICES: Are You Using Firecrackers or Dynamite?

Posted:

WORD CHOICES: ARE YOU USING FIRECRACKERS OR DYNAMITE? is the next session in the Workshops to Success sponsored by University College’s Academic Skills Center and offered free to BSC students. This session raises the question of whether one word is better than another. Why say "attitude" instead of "tude" or "It’s spectacular!” instead of "It rocks!"? Do you see a movie or a flick? Do you drive a car or a chick-magnet? Do you smoke a cigarette or a cancer-stick? Word choices may convey what we mean, but they can also reflect who we are and how we think. Become more aware of the extraordinary power of words.
