Journey Through West African Culture

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in African Drumming workshops led by Diaspora Drumming Ensemble on Thursday, March 19. Workshops are approximately 40 minutes in length and will be held throughout the day at the Campus West Auditorium with a special faculty/staff only workshop at 1:30 p.m. No previous drumming experience is necessary. The day will conclude with a free public concert at 7:00 p.m. in the Campus West Auditorium. Please contact Lisa Hunter, assistant professor and coordinator of music education, for more information or to make a workshop reservation at ext. 6420.

Children's Build-a-Book Event

Join “Miss Cleo,” “the Oracle,” tarot card readers, palm readers, and fortune tellers for a night of superstitious fun, Friday, March 13, starting at 9:00 p.m. Robert Channing takes the retail dining stage at 9:15 p.m. Play bingo with USG, make your own voodoo doll, watch the drag show, dismiss the urban legend of pop rocks and coke, and so much more.

Please join us for an uplifting opportunity with Kristen Huff, Ed. D., Senior Director, College Board on Tuesday, March 17, during Bengal Pause (12:15-1:30 p.m.) in Bacon Hall 115. Her presentation, "Spring into Action: Getting Started with a Research Initiative," is designed for campus scholars and grants persons who are curious about addressing research in new ways. Summit to Focus on Domestic Violence

Buffalo State College, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated-Buffalo Alumnae Chapter, and its partners will host a free domestic violence summit, “Pathways out of Domestic Violence” on Saturday, March 14, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Buffalo State College in Classroom Building C122. The summit will take an in-depth look at Domestic Violence in Erie County and answer commonly posed questions. The summit also will cover several topics including spiritual responses to domestic violence; the impact of domestic violence on children; sisters helping sisters; supporting our children: identifying and responding to children who witness domestic violence, and domestic violence away from home.
