Workshops to Success: Timely Graduation

Timely Graduation is the next session in the Workshops to Success series sponsored by University College’s Academic Skills Center and offered free to Buffalo State students. Academic Advisor Marie Ferraro will inform you of the steps you need to take early in your college career to insure your ability to graduate in four years. You will be made aware of important aspects, such as saving money on your education by maximizing your registrations, using your credit hours to complete a major and a minor, and double-dipping courses.

Mental Health Week: Mind, Body, and Soul-March 30-April 3, Give Extra Credit

United Students Government presents Mental Health Week "Mind, Body, and Soul" a series of interactive programs on how students can most effectively manage and cope with stress to help them achieve greater personal and academic success. We are encouraging all faculty to utilize these programs for extra credit. A sign-in sheet will be available at each program. All events are free of charge.

12th Annual Bengal 5K Run and Fun Walk Runs to a Record-Breaking Finish!

More than 850 runners and walkers (a record increase of 300 registrants from the previous year) and 150 volunteers (yet another record!) supported the 12th annual Bengal 5K Run and Fun Walk on Saturday, March 14. The proceeds from this event benefit the Buffalo State Alumni Association's Legacy Scholarship Fund, a scholarship awarded annually to a student who is the child or grandchild of a Buffalo State graduate.

Design Department Student Exhibition Opening Reception

The annual Design Student Exhibition will be on view in the Upton Gallery beginning this Thursday, March 19, and continuing through Wednesday, April 8. Join us this Thursday in the Upton Gallery for the opening reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and student award presentation at 6:00 p.m. Celebrate with us as we recognize our skilled and talented student designers in ceramics, fibers, metal/jewelry design, wood/furniture design and communication design. Do You Have a Musical Instrument Collecting Dust in Your Closet?

The Buffalo State College Music Department has partnered with Music is Art to hold an instrument drive on campus through May 12, 2009. Instruments collected will be donated to area schools, with a special focus on the Campus West After School Music Program. Instruments needed include flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, and snare drums. However, all musical instruments will be accepted and donated to programs in need. Donation bins are located in Rockwell Hall 203, Campus House, the Burchfield Penney Art Center, and Buckham Campus West School. Please help us support our local music education programs.

Native Americans and the Silver Screen

Join the Native American Students Organization in welcoming Dr. Ron Smith, Lafayette Williams, and friends as part of the 19th annual Native American Heritage Celebration. They will present a lecture on the portrayal of Native Americans in movies, plus share experiences as Native actors, on Wednesday, March 18, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Science 272.
