We are making final preparations to transfer student academic history from STARS to Banner, which will make Banner the official system of record. The cutover will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, and will be complete by the morning of Monday, August 11.
Construction road blocks will be placed on Iroquois Drive starting today, July 30, through Friday, August 22, to accommodate work associated with the new electrical substation project. While all parking lots will remain open during this time and will be accessible from either Grant Street or Elmwood Avenue, individuals may need to revise their travel patterns due to these closures.
Effective Friday, August 1, 2008, the contracted travel agency for the college will be Albany Travel. Since they are a NYS contract vendor, the agent fee charged for airline tickets has been reduced from $28 to $15 and $15 to $5 for train or bus tickets. Employees can contact Albany Travel at 800-774-0655 and speak to any of their agents to assist with travel arrangements. Please note that even though we have changed travel agencies, the procedure for making travel arrangements remains the same.
Plants can significantly reduce a building's energy needs since it's cooler in the shade of trees and warmer behind plants that block the winter winds. The Department of Energy predicts that proper placement of as few as three shade trees will save an average household $100-$250 in energy costs each year. A Pennsylvania study found that air conditioning needs could be reduced by up to 75 percent by shading a house with trees!
The deadline to submit applications for the SUNY B-140W Tuition Assistance Program for summer 2008 is Friday, August 1. Staff members may apply for tuition assistance after six months of service; faculty members may apply after one semester of service.
Iroquois Drive will be closed in sections starting Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 22, due to work associated with the new Electrical Substation project. All parking lots will remain open during this time and will be accessible from either Grant Street or Elmwood Avenue. However, individuals may need to revise their travel patterns due to these closures. There will be signage at Elmwood Avenue and Grant Street entrances indicating which lots will be accessible from these entrances. As always, we thank you for your patience and understanding as we undertake this critical campus project. For any questions, please contact Campus Services at ext. 6111.
