The Admissions Office will host the first of two Fall Open Houses for prospective students and their families on Saturday, September 29, from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Sports Arena. The McNair Scholars Alumni Chapter invites faculty, staff, and students to stop by its scholarship fundraiser at the Cold Stone Creamery, 2674 Delaware Avenue, on Thursday, September 27, between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. Cold Stone Creamery will donate 10 percent to 30 percent of the total ice cream sales to the David Matyjasik Scholarship Fund, named in honor of a McNair Scholar who tragically passed away in 2003. EVERGREEN, Buffalo State College’s environmental organization, has been committed to promoting environmental sustainability and healthy transportation options for our community. Following this endeavor, we have two racks of bikes from Buffalo Blue Bicycle located in the Union Quad available for faculty, staff, and student use.

Father Pat, director of Catholic Campus Ministry at the Newman Center, welcomes all Buffalo State students, faculty, and staff to join him for weekly Mass. Beginning this week and continuing throughout the semester, Mass will be celebrated on Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. at the Newman Center Chapel, 1219 Elmwood Avenue, and on Fridays at 12:05 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 208. Times and locations for special holy day Masses will be scheduled and posted as they occur throughout the academic year.

The network upgrades in Bacon Hall, Ketchum Hall, Rockwell Hall, and Campus House were completed last week. Work in the Classroom Building will continue during the week of August 27.

The Buffalo State College Foundation is holding its tenth annual Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic on Monday, September 10, at the Brookfield Country Club. Our event is in need of tennis players.

UBMicro will be on campus for its Computer Truckload Sale on Monday and Tuesday, August 27 and 28, in the Student Union Quad from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The sale is open to all faculty, staff, and students.

Welcome back for the fall 2007 semester. As you may be aware, the Enterprise Desktop Systems staff is heavily booked for the next two weeks with recently requested installs and modifications. If you have a request regarding lab or office equipment, please be patient.

The network upgrades in Butler Library, Donald Savage Building, and Bacon Hall were completed this week. Work in Ketchum Hall and Rockwell Hall is expected to be completed by Thursday, August 23. Work will begin in the Classroom Building on Thursday and continue through Friday (August 23–24).
