College Relations is looking for faculty and staff who would be willing to experience new Web applications as they enter production. See recent site additions, such as blogs, forums, podcasting, and RSS, before anyone else does. Take applications for a spin and tell us what you like, don’t like, don’t understand, want more of, need less of, etc. Do you need to be tech savvy to be a Web Tastemaker? Not necessarily—just interested in the Web and invested in helping the college build a successful online presence. This commitment will be fun, too, as we will hold Tastemaker events as the semester gets under way. Please contact Melissa Meehan at meehanme@buffalostate.edu or ext. 3903 to volunteer.
Please make an effort to return your SEFA/United Way pledge forms and contribution to your solicitor. Watch the thermometer rise as we strive to achieve our $150,000 goal by next week. Your donation is needed now!
As you complete you SEFA pledge card, please remember to designate your gift. If you have no favorite agencies, please consider writing in the code # 57-600 for the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County. They will use your gift where it is most needed. Unless your gift is designated, it will be distributed according to the proportions of the aggregate gifts throughout the state, and since the population is greater downstate most of your dollars will go downstate. Please help fellow Western New Yorkers: code # 57-600.
The Emergency Response Planning Group, part of the campuswide Emergency Preparedness Planning Committee, will present the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program. The CERT program consists of eight units and a final course review and disaster-simulation exercise. Units will be presented twice per week in three-hour intervals in Bulger Communication Center N2A from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. to accommodate those needing a second- or third-shift time frame. We will be offering this program on a cyclical basis so if a session is missed, it can be attended on the next cycle. The first session, Disaster Preparedness, will be held on Tuesday, June 13. Refreshments will be served. For further information, including other session schedules and R.S.V.P. contacts, please visit www.buffalostate.edu/campusservices/x587.xml.
The Auxiliary Services Grant Allocation Committee (GAC) is requesting proposals from individuals, departments, and student clubs and organizations for funding of programs, speakers, and events to take place during the 2006–2007 academic year.
