An information session on the Puerto Rico study tour will be held on Thursday, October 5, at 12:15 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center South. Students can learn how they may earn 6 credits in a program that includes academic work during the spring semester and travel in Puerto Rico May 22–June 13. Spanish is not required.

Faculty and professional staff are invited to attend an information session on April 4 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 208 and apply to participate in the new Emerging College Leaders Program. The information session will explain the program design, participant time commitment, and application process. This program is an opportunity for 12 to 15 full-time faculty and professional staff members to engage in individual leadership development through leadership assessments, workshops, and development plans. Program dates are May 10, 11, 16, 17, and 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with follow-up sessions in September and January. Applications will be available at the information session and are due April 17. If you are interested and unable to attend, call Marie Mance, ext. 3841.

The second annual Greater Western New York Law School Fair will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott. This event is sponsored by the Career Development Center and the Western New York Association of College Career Centers. The NIA Mentor Program uses a concept derived from the African proverb “It takes a whole village to raise a child” to create a nurturing and supportive environment for students of color entering a predominantly white college campus. NIA is responsible for assisting hundreds of students through the transition to Buffalo State College from high school or their transfer school.
