Disaster can strike quickly and without warning. Therefore, the best way to make you and your family safer is to be prepared before the disaster strikes.

Men's Basketball Tournament and Alumni Game This Weekend

Buffalo State's men's basketball team will host the 16th annual Holiday Inn Invitational this Friday and Saturday.  The tourney will tip off with D'Youville and Hilbert on Friday at 6:00 p.m., followed by Buffalo State and Medaille at approximately 8:00 p.m.

The Almar Family Foundation Funds Two Programs

Based on Grand Island, the Almar Family Foundation will fund two foster youth programs spearheaded by Louis Colca in the Social Work Department. Fifteen hundred dollars will go to a collaborative foster youth computer camp, and $1,500 will help support a foster youth outdoor adventure program. Both programs incorporate Buffalo State Social Work students into them.

Fire Alarm System Upgrade Project Update

The campuswide fire alarm system upgrade project continues to move forward. The new system will be completed and operational by the start of the new year in Upton Hall, Houston Gym, and Butler Library. The new fire alarm system will be installed in the Sports Arena beginning the week of December 26, with work continuing through the spring semester. During the winter break, fire alarm upgrade projects will also begin in the Classroom Building and Twin Rise.

Fall 2006 Grading - Substitute for Pass/Fail

Students requesting a letter grade for a pass/fail may obtain a Substitute for Pass/Fail Form from the Registrar's Office, Moot Hall 210. Approved forms must be submitted to the Registrar's Office no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 18.

The Buffalo State Native American Student Organization (N.A.S.O.) will host its annual Fall Social and Potluck Dinner on Saturday, December 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Campbell Union Social Hall. There is no cost for the event.

Lecture on Fiber Optics

Dr. Douglas Gill, a Buffalo State alumnus, will give a talk on "Fiber Optic Based Communication Systems and Technologies" on Thursday, December 7, at 12:30 p.m. in Science Building 272. Gill graduated from the Buffalo State Physics Department in 1989 and is currently working at Bell Labs - Lucent Technologies. This seminar is jointly hosted by the Physics and Chemistry departments.

EAP Workshop: Meditation and Yoga

The Employee Assistance Program is pleased to offer a free workshop on meditation and yoga on Friday, January 12, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Butler Library 210. The Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique (IAMT) consists of simple yoga postures, breathing, visualization, and sound and can be practiced in just 20 minutes. This form of deliberate relaxation can induce many health benefits, including reduced stress and anxiety, increased energy and productivity, improved mental clarity, and enhanced overall well-being.
