Pre-Retirement Planning Seminars Scheduled for NYS Teachers

The New York State Teachers' Retirement System has organized a daylong seminar to help members age 45 and older prepare for retirement. Three dates are available this spring: Thursday, March 27; Wednesday, April 16; and Friday, May 2. The seminars will be held at the Millennium Airport Hotel, 2040 Walden Avenue, Cheektowaga, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. There is no fee to attend, but you must register in advance.

Join us tonight at 7:00 p.m. for the Houghton Chapter–New York State Archaeological Association lecture series talk titled "Buttons and Pipes: How Personal Items Reflect Male Gender Identity at West Point Military Academy During the First Half of the Nineteenth Century," by Dr. Rebecca Emans, project director at Panamerican Consultants Inc. The lecture will take place at the Buffalo Museum of Science.

Revised Last Date of Attendance Guidance

When entering non-passing grades into Banner, faculty were previously told to enter "never attended" if they had no record of the student attending. This does not work. Only a date within the term can be entered.

Call for Nominations: Undergraduate and Graduate Student Awards

Nominations for the President's Medal for Outstanding Undergraduate and Graduate Student and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence are being sought. Students must be nominated by a faculty or staff member. Candidates must be graduating students who have demonstrated the qualities recognized by each award.  Nomination forms and information are also available online or from the Associate Vice President for Campus Life Office, Campbell Student Union 222. Nominations and supporting documentation must be forwarded to Timothy Ecklund by Tuesday, January 22, 2008.

What Is UB 2020 and Why Should You Care? Find Out at the College Senate Meeting

The University at Buffalo has announced a plan to expand its physical location and its student body; this could affect Buffalo State College. On Friday, December 14, at 1:30 p.m., in Classroom Building C122, as part of the meeting of the College Senate, UB President John B. Simpson will share his vision of UB 2020. Members of the campus community are invited to attend and ask questions (following questions from panel members Betty Cappella, David Carson, John DeNisco, George Hole, and Constance Qualls).
