Nostra Aetate, In Our Time

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of this declaration, Nostra Aetate, "In Our Time,"  that laid the foundation upon which Jewish-Catholic dialogue has begun to thrive, the Newman Center will host Rabbi Dr. Gerald M. Meister on Monday, April 10, at 7:00 p.m. Rabbi Meister currently serves the Consulate General of Israel in New York as adviser on Israel-Christian Affairs and is an internationally renowned speaker and lecturer in comparative Jewish-Christian theology at several Roman Catholic seminaries and universities on the East and West Coasts. Rabbi Meister was present in Jerusalem for the signing of the protocols establishing relations between Israel and the Vatican and is committed to affirming and supporting the special bond between Jews and Christians. The Newman Center is located at 1219 Elmwood Avenue (at the corner of Penhurst Place). This event is free of charge and open to the entire campus community and the community at large. Campus Fire Drills April 10-14

In compliance with New York State Education Law, Section 807, fire evacuation drills will be conducted throughout campus April 10–14, 2006. Conducted in conjunction with the Buffalo Fire Department and University Police, fire alarm systems, including signaling devices (bells, horns, and lights), automatic fire-door closers, and communication lines, are tested and evacuation routes re-evaluated.

College Senate Elections

Posted:

College Senate elections for three at-large senators will be conducted April 5–19 using paper and electronic ballots. The electronic elections site will be posted on the College Senate Web site between April 5 and April 19. The voting lists of all identified participating units (e.g., the four schools, Professional Staff Caucus members, library, and campus administrators) are used to determine eligible voters. Those who wish to use a paper ballot must request one by April 11. Contact the College Senate Office (ext. 5139) to request a paper ballot.

Searing Guitar Master Jesse Cook Heats Up the Rockwell Hall Stage

The Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall is pleased to present rumba flamenco guitar master Jesse Cook this Friday, April 7, at 8:00 pm. This concert is part of the 2005–2006 Great Performers Series, presented by M&T Bank. Tickets are $25 for Buffalo State faculty and staff. Spring Into Wellness Health Fair

The Weigel Health Center and the Health and Wellness Department have combined their efforts to bring Buffalo State College a fun, entertaining, and educational Health Fair on April 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Houston Gym. More than 15 campus and community organizations will be available to provide students, faculty, and staff with free educational information, snacks, and giveaways.
