The Native American Students Organization (N.A.S.O.) is sponsoring the 16th annual Native American Heritage Celebration during the month of April 2006. The theme for this year's celebration events is "Buffalo Creek."
The Orchard Park Country Club will play host to the 23rd annual Bengal Club Golf Classic, benefiting Buffalo State student-athletes and their programs. This year's tournament is Monday, June 26, and includes a fabulous registration gift; lunch on the terrace overlooking the course; full use of practice range and recently updated locker facilities; golf with cart on one of the area's finest layouts; refreshments on the course; two-hour open bar with a full sit-down dinner along with awards; and our terrific silent, brown-bag, and live auctions. As part of the Native American Students Organization's (N.A.S.O.) 16th annual Native American Heritage Celebration, Buffalo State freshman and N.A.S.O. treasurer Lafayette Williams will present "Experiences of a Native American Actor" on Tuesday, April 11, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Bacon Hall 220.
Faculty and staff members are invited to submit proposals for the 12th annual CUMU Conference October 21–24 at the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. The conference theme is "Diversity in Urban Universities." Conference planners seek papers dealing with urban and metropolitan leadership issues and program innovations affecting student affairs, academic affairs, institutional research, institutional advancement, governmental relations, and marketing. Individuals interested in presenting information, leading discussions, or organizing panels relevant to the conference theme are encouraged to submit proposals to the Conference Program Committee for review on or before April 17. As part of the 16th annual Native American Heritage Celebration, sponsored by the Native American Students Organization (N.A.S.O.), William Englebrecht, professor emeritus, and Lisa Anselmi, assistant professor, Anthropology, will present "Buffalo Creek: A Long History of Occupation" tonight, Monday, April 10, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in Bacon Hall 116A. Discover some interesting facts regarding the Iroquois people who occupied land in the South Buffalo area prior to European contact. This presentation is co-sponsored by Auxiliary Services.
