The NIA (Nurture – Initiative – Achievement) Mentor Program is based on a two-tiered mentoring system that comprises a peer mentor and a faculty/staff mentor for each mentee. By mentoring a student, a faculty/staff mentor will play an active role in aiding the college’s retention efforts. More importantly, a mentor will touch the life of the mentee, as a friend and role model.

Business Recruitment Workgroup Meeting, Monday, July 31, 5:00 p.m.

The meeting will be held at County Legislator Maria Whyte's District Office at 286 Lafayette Avenue. Recognizing that Grant-Ferry cannot prosper until its vacant storefronts are filled with a variety of much-needed services, this workgroup is exploring real action to take to help find and support new entrepreneurs. Participants will be addressing base strategies for recruiting new business. The status and potential of the partnership with Buffalo State and service learning are on the agenda. Buffalo Police Commissioner to Speak

Buffalo Police Commissioner H. McCarthy Gipson will speak at 5:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, July 26, on the fourth floor of the Classroom Building at an event sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Buffalo/Niagara. His topic is violence in the schools and on the streets. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

A Silver and Gold Reunion

“A Silver and Gold Reunion," honoring the classes of 1946, ’56, ’61, and ’66, is being held July 13–16, 2006. Alumni from these classes will be celebrating special anniversaries and enjoying a weekend of reuniting and great memories. The 50-Plus Club, Silas L. Boyd Memorial A Cappella Alumni Choir, and Psi Phi Beta Fraternity are hosting special affinity reunions in conjunction with this reunion weekend as well.
