Water Interruption: August 4-5

As part of ongoing construction in the Student Union Quad, a planned water interruption will take place during the evening of Tuesday, August 4. The water shutdown will begin at 6:00 p.m. and will last until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5. Bishop Hall, Bulger Communication Center, Campbell Student Union, Cassety Hall, Caudell Hall, Cleveland Hall, and E. H. Butler Library will be without water during this time.

When the systems are re-initiated, there is a chance of discoloration in the water in all campus buildings. Where this may occur, individuals are asked to not use or drink the the water until it runs clear.

I am delighted to announce that Paul Theobald will serve as interim dean of the Graduate School commencing Monday, August 3, 2009. Theobald joined Buffalo State in 2004 as Woods-Beals Endowed Chair in Urban and Rural Education and as a professor in the Educational Foundations Department. His service as interim dean will conclude with the appointment of the college's eighth president.

Rockwell Road Lane Change

As the reconstruction of Rockwell Road continues, a lane change is scheduled for Monday, August 3, weather permitting. The two north lanes (normally used for westbound traffic) will be opened to two-way traffic. The two south lanes (normally used for eastbound traffic) will be closed. Parking on Rockwell Road will continue to be prohibited, but access to all roads and driveways off Rockwell Road will be maintained.

Construction Update

A portion of the sidewalk directly west of Cleveland Hall will be closed beginning today, Tuesday, July 28, to accommodate construction associated with the Student Union Quad rehabilitation project. The affected area, east of Lot D-1 and between Campbell Student Union and Bishop Hall, is expected to be closed for approximately two weeks. Pedestrian traffic will be re-routed to the south of Bishop Hall.

Hot Water Interruptions for Entire Campus

To accommodate the ongoing construction at the Science Building, a planned steam/hot water interruption will take place on Wednesday, July 29. The steam will be shutdown at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning and will be down until 7:00 a.m. the next morning (Thursday, July 30).

Although campus buildings do not usually require heat at this time of year, the procedure will interrupt hot water service to all buildings on campus. Program functions that specifically require hot water or steam service are being contacted individually and accommodated.

Session B Grading Window

The Session B grading window will close tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29, at 10:00 a.m. Detailed documentation for entering grades is available by accessing http://buffalostate.edu/banner/documents/grading.pdf. Assistance is available by calling the Computing Help Desk from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at ext. 4357. If you have questions about grading, please call the Registrar's Office at ext. 4811.

To accommodate the ongoing construction in the Academic Quad, a planned water interruption will take place during the evening of Tuesday, July 21. The shutdown will begin at 10:00 p.m. and continue no later than 7:00 a.m. the following morning. Bishop Hall, Bulger Communication Center, the Campbell Student Union, Caudell Hall, Cleveland Hall, and E. H. Butler Library will all be without water during this time.

Science Building Construction: Temporary Water Shutdowns

To accommodate the ongoing construction at the Science Building, a planned water interruption will take place during the evenings of Tuesday, July 14; Wednesday, July 15; and Thursday, July 16. The shutdown will take place each evening from 10:00 p.m. until no later than 7:00 a.m. the following morning. Science I, Campus West, Sports Arena, and the Houston Gymnasium will be without water during this time.

When the systems are re-initiated, there is a chance of water discoloration in all campus buildings. Where this may occur, individuals are requested to run the water until it becomes clear prior to using or drinking the water.

Cleveland Hall West Door Coming Off Line Temporarily

As part of the Student Union Quad rehabilitation project, the west door of Cleveland Hall (facing Chase Hall) will be closed for at least two weeks starting Monday, July 13. The east and north doors will remain accessible. We apologize for any inconvenience cause by this disruption.
