The grading window for faculty to enter their Session I grades in Banner opens Thursday morning, July 9, and closes Wednesday, July 15, at 10:00 a.m. In preparation, faculty are encouraged to logon to Banner to be sure their courses are listed under their account. Detailed documentation for entering grades is available by accessing http://buffalostate.edu/banner/documents/grading.pdf. Additionally, assistance is available by calling the Computing Help Desk, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at ext. 4357. If you have questions about grading, please call the Registrar's Office at ext. 4811.

The Copy Center, Cleveland Hall 111, has reopened for printing service and resumed regular hours of operation. The center was temporarily closed to clean up flooding from the water main break that occurred on Wednesday, June 17. Call 878-4509 with questions.

As work on Rockwell Road progresses, crews are preparing to begin reconstruction of the north lanes. Equipment and activity will move to the north lanes, and two-way traffic will occur on the south lanes starting later this week. Parking on Rockwell Road will continue to be prohibited, but access to all roads and driveways off Rockwell Road will be maintained throughout the project, which is expected to be complete in mid-August.

Gary Jones resigned from the appointment of dean, School of the Professions, effective June 9, 2009. Gary is the founding dean of the school, which was established in 2005. His leadership to the formation, organization, and advancement of the school is greatly appreciated.

Rita Zientek, associate dean, will serve as officer-in-charge until an interim dean appointment is made.

I am pleased to announce that Kevin Railey, associate provost and dean of the Graduate School, will assume the role of interim provost when I become interim president on August 1.
br />Kevin has served as associate provost and dean of the Graduate School since May 2007. He came to Buffalo State as a member of the English Department in 1991, and chaired the department for eight years. He was interim associate vice president for enrollment management in 2005–2006. In 2003 he received the President’s Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Equity and Campus Diversity, and in 2005 he was awarded the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities.
br />I have every expectation that Kevin will bring the same degree of commitment, intelligence, and thoughtfulness to the provost’s office that he has brought to his work as professor, dean, and associate provost. Buffalo State is very fortunate to have capable and willing administrators like Kevin, particularly in this time of transition.
