E. H. Butler Library Pedestrian Detour

On Saturday, August 29, at 9:00 a.m. the E. H. Butler Library detour/pedestrian walk thru from Cleveland Hall was discontinued. The StudyQuad door returned to its normal overnight access hours and Cleveland Hall became accessible from the library via the quad walkway.

Resident Students Move In Tomorrow

Tuesday, August 25, and Saturday, August 29, are Move-in Days for residential students. To facilitate move-in for our students and their families, some parking lots near residence halls will be reserved for use by students and will not be available for faculty, staff, and students. The following lots will be used for move-in activity on both days:

Lot A-1 (Rockwell Road, north and south sides) from Cleveland Circle Drive west to the entrance of lots F/ F-1 and G.
Lot D (Academic Drive) except parking spaces designated for persons with disabilities
Lot D-1

University Police officers and Residence Life staff will be available to direct students and their families. Thank you for your cooperation.

Central Mail Room Relocated

The college’s central Mail Room has been relocated to the lower level of the Campbell Student Union. In the event that you need to hand-deliver or pick up mail and packages please utilize the center staircase in the main lobby or the elevator which is located on the east wall of the building. If further directional assistance is needed, please contact the Mail Room at ext. 5515. Thank you.

Water Shutdown Planned for Sunday Evening

To accommodate ongoing Student Union Quad construction, a planned water supply interruption will take place during the evening of Sunday, August 23, from 6:00 p.m. until no later than 6:00 a.m. the following morning. Caudell Hall, Bulger Communications Center, Campbell Student Union, E. H. Butler Library, Cleveland Hall, and Bishop Hall will be without water during this time.

When the systems are re-initiated, there is a chance of a discoloration in the water to all buildings on campus. Where this may occur, individuals are requested to run the water until it becomes clear prior to using or drinking the water.

Detour Change for Today Only

The detour through E. H. Butler Library will be changed from the StudyQuad door to the Copier Lounge door, today, Wednesday, August 19. This change is for one day only while the rugs in StudyQuad are being cleaned.

Fire Safety Training Drill on Campus Today

Buffalo State’s University Police Department, working with the Buffalo Fire Department, will conduct its annual fire safety training exercise for residence life staff and University Police Student Assistants, today, Wednesday, August 19.

The drill will include a mock fire in Neumann Hall using fog machines to simulate smoke. The fire alarm in Neumann Hall will sound at some point between 10:30 a.m. and noon alerting everyone to evacuate the building to accommodate the training. For this exercise, you may see fire trucks along Rockwell Road, police action, and actors portraying victims in the area of Neumann Hall. Please do not be alarmed; this is a simulated event.

Lot R-1 to Undergo Expansion

To accommodate a 152-space parking lot expansion, the existing spaces in Lot R-1 (north of Houston Gym) will be taken off line this week for approximately five weeks. The lot will be widened into the current tennis courts, which will be closed permanently.

This expansion, which includes 28 new spaces for faculty and staff, should be completed by late September.

Grading Window for Summer Session C and 2

Faculty will enter their summer 2009 session C and 2 grades using Banner. The grading window will open Thursday, August 13, at 10:00 a.m. and close Wednesday, August 19, at 10:00 a.m. In preparation, faculty are encouraged to logon to Banner to be sure that all of their courses are listed under their account. Detailed documentation for entering grades is available by accessing http://buffalostate.edu/banner/documents/grading.pdf. Additionally, assistance is available by calling the Computing Help Desk, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at ext. 4357. If you have additional questions about grading, please call the Registrar's Office at ext. 4811.

Progress and Completion of Summer Construction Projects

As you may have noticed, workers have completed the reconstruction of Rockwell Road (ahead of schedule!). The road now accommodates traffic and parking. Because of this completion, Lot B-1, adjacent the Burchfield Penney Art Center, is once again a metered visitor lot.

Additionally, Cleveland Hall’s south (main) entrance and northwest (under the Cleveland Hall bridge) entrance to the west wing have reopened.
