Update: Section of Iroquois Drive Closed

Posted:

As previously reported, Iroquois Drive was closed to traffic last week to allow the City of Buffalo to complete necessary repairs to a 36-inch waterline. Unfortunately, some unexpected issues have developed that will result in this road closure being extended, possibly through Thursday, February 28. The closure affects only the Grant Street entrance to Iroquois Drive. The road will be accessible via the Elmwood Avenue entrance. Except for the inconvenience of having to use the Elmwood Avenue entrance, all parking lots will remain open.

Message from Hal D. Payne, Vice President, Student Affairs

Posted:

With last week's tragedy on the campus of Northern Illinois University, we are reminded that safety awareness is a shared concern for all members of our campus community. For that reason, I am announcing the start of the "Care Enough to Call" awareness campaign. This campaign has the goal of making information about who to contact readily available so it can be located and used at the time it is needed, namely, whenever there is a concern about potential risk to personal or campus safety that might result from a student’s behavior.

Care Enough to Call intends to help all of us (1.) accept our responsibility to do something about our concerns and (2.) offer guidance about how to respond appropriately. This link provides information developed to initiate the campaign. I urge you to keep this information readily available and, more importantly, to act on any uncertainties or concerns you might have by calling the appropriate office. Working together, we can help ensure a safe environment for all.

Today: Governor Spitzer to Speak on Higher Education

The Buffalo State community is invited to hear Gov. Eliot Spitzer discuss his endowment plan for enriching New York State's public higher education system. Today, Wednesday, February 13, at 1:15 p.m., the University at Buffalo will host Governor Spitzer in the UB Downtown Gateway—the former M. Wile Building, located at 77 Goodell Street. As Governor Spitzer has emphasized, investing in a world-class higher education system is pivotal to the future of New York State.
