Butler Library Temporary Closure: October 5-7

Butler Library will close from 5:00 p.m. Friday, October 5, through 7:00 a.m. Monday, October 8, to accommodate electrical system upgrades in support of the renovation of the Academic Commons. Employees are asked to power down computers and peripherals in advance of this impact.

Friday, October 5
The entire library, including StudyQuad and QuietQuad, will close at 5:00 p.m.

Saturday, October 6, and Sunday, October 7
The entire library will be closed.

Monday, October 8
The entire library, including StudyQuad and QuietQuad, will reopen at the regularly scheduled time of 7:00 a.m.

UNYTS Blood Drive: October 4

The campus community is encouraged to participate in the annual UNYTS Blood Drive, sponsored by Intercollegiate Athletics, on Thursday, October 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Houston Gym. All donors will receive a free "Real Fans Bleed Orange" T-shirt and pizza courtesy of Mister Pizza. In addition, all donors will be entered in a drawing to win $50 gift cards from Wegmans and the Pearl Street Grill, as well as dinner for two to Chef's Restaurant. Shoe Drive: Donations Accepted through October 4

United Students Government and the Social Work Honor Society are hosting a shoe donation drive to benefit families in developing countries who are hoping to start their own businesses. Donations of new or gently used shoes will be accepted now through Thursday, October 4. Any type of footwear is acceptable (slippers, dance shoes, cleats, heels, sandals, flip flops, boots) in any size (men's, women's, children), but please make sure donations are clean with no holes and soles are intact. Donations can be brought to Caudell Hall 359. Please contact Jessica Fitzpatrick, assistant professor of social work, regarding large donations requiring pickup from your vehicle, office, or dorm room. Thank you for your support.

Tell Students: Volunteer for AFP 2018 - Meeting September 27

Next week is AFP 2018: Repair the World. The Time Is Now! We are excited to host a variety of engaging workshops, performances, and art exhibits during AFP's 10th annual social justice festival on campus October 2 and 3. The festival runs on people power, and we need you and your students to volunteer! It takes everyone in the village to run the festival.

An AFP 2018 volunteer meeting will be held on Thursday, September 27, in Bulger Communication Center 215 (formerly Bulger North). Please register ahead of time so we can order enough pizza for our volunteers.

The Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore will host a book signing with local author Lorna MacDonald Czarnota, author of Legends, Lore, and Secrets of Western New York, on Tuesday, September 25, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Her book offers history, myths, and legends from the counties that compose the region known as Western New York. Fall Fulbright Seminar: 'The Responsibility of Global Scholarship' - Tomorrow

Any student, faculty, or staff member interested in the multiple possibilities offered by the Fulbright Program is welcome to attend the Western New York and Northwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Fulbright Association’s fall conference, “The Responsibility of Global Scholarship,” tomorrow, October 19, from noon to 3:00 p.m. in Bisgrove Hall on the campus of Niagara University. The event includes lunch and is free and open to the public.

The guest speaker will be Anna McNab, associate professor of management at Niagara University.
