Brief Job Description
This position is responsible for providing high-level support to facilitate the efficient operation of the Student Affairs division. The incumbent will provide a broad range of administrative support to the vice president for student affairs and other members of the campus community. The incumbent holding this position must use good judgment in prioritizing multiple tasks and assignments; be able to interact with senior leadership on behalf of the vice president, using tact and diplomacy to respond to situations; establish procedures to meet priorities while maintaining an efficient workflow; respond to calls; and organize, expedite, and follow up on projects.

WNY GenCyber Conference on Cybersecurity: October 29

The Computer Information Systems Department will host the GenCyber Conference in Western New York, a free cybersecurity conference sponsored by the National Security Agency for in-service secondary school teachers in Western New York, on Saturday, October 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The goals of the conference are increasing interest in cybersecurity careers and diversity in the nation’s cybersecurity workforce and improving teaching methods for the delivery of cybersecurity content in secondary curricula. Keynote speakers of the conference from the Buffalo FBI office will address issues of digital citizenship and safe online behavior. Breakout sessions will consist of several cybersecurity topics, including data security, cyber ethics, ethical hacking, social engineering, cryptography and cybersecurity career awareness.

If you know of any high school mathematics, science, or technology teachers who might be interested in attending, please encourage them to visit the Buffalo State GenCyber website and register for the free cybersecurity conference.

Dietetics students in the B.S./M.S. program will hold a bake sale to benefit FeedMore Western New York on Thursday, October 27, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union.

Please stop by to enjoy hot cider (no added sugar, $1), Rice Krispie Treats (soy-free, dairy-free, $2), and chocolate-covered pretzels (reduced sodium, three for $4) while supporting our students and a Western New York community partner. Cash only, please.

The Political Science and Public Administration Department and the urban planning program are pleased to announce the next talk in their Fall 2022 Public Service Lecture Series, a presentation by Ashley Smith, deputy director of GoBike Buffalo, on Wednesday, October 26, at 4:30 p.m. in Buckham Hall A122.

Ms. Smith will discuss the role and importance of non-motorized vehicle planning, with a focus on bike planning and the work GoBike does.

The Buffalo State Data Science and Analytics Interdisciplinary Unit is proud to host a Business Intelligence Panel, the second monthly learning and discussion session of the Buffalo Data Science Community, on Wednesday, November 2, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Technology Building 160. The panel discussion will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Q&A and networking session from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.
