Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff on August 6, 2013, in honor of a World War II soldier from Frankfort, New York.

Army Sgt. Dominick Licari was last heard from in 1944, when the A-20G Havoc bomber on which he was a gunner crashed into a mountainside in New Guinea. He joined the United States Army Air Forces in 1942. After numerous search efforts spanning multiple decades, Sgt. Licari’s remains were recently identified by the U.S. military and are being returned to New York today.

“After so many years abroad, the remains of Sgt. Licari are finally coming home,” Governor Cuomo said. “I proudly join with all New Yorkers in remembering his service to our country with gratitude, and offer my thoughts and prayers to the friends and family of other service members who remain unaccounted for.”

Governor Cuomo has directed that the flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of and in tribute to our state's service members and those stationed in New York who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.

Instructors worldwide are turning around student learning by flipping classrooms. Teachers move information coverage out of lecture halls to better leverage in-class time and address student difficulties or misconceptions. In this interactive session, Julie Schell will flip the workshop by providing brief introductory pre-workshop activities to participants. Activity responses will be used in the workshop to discuss the why, what, and how of flipped classrooms by confronting and resolving a series of common myths about flipped teaching.

New secretaries and anyone who is new to working with the Master Schedule report on the ALLSCHOOLS shared drive are welcome to participate in training sessions to be held in E. H. Butler Library 318 on Wednesday, August 7, and Friday, August 9, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

These will be “hands-on” sessions in which you will learn how to retrieve the Master Schedule report on the ALLSCHOOLS shared drive, create your own copy, and manipulate the data in Excel, among other topics. 

Seating is limited to six people per session. Registration is required. Please e-mail Rada Montroy with your contact information and indicate which session you would like to attend. You will receive a registration confirmation via e-mail.

Increase your productivity by using the Track Changes feature in Microsoft Office to edit documents or provide feedback to students. Track changes is a collaborative tool that allows multiple users to make revisions, provides access to the original document, and identifies who made each revision.
